Ligna Hannover to show the way forward

Posted on April 3rd, 2009

From 18 to 22 May 200, Hannover, Germany, will again be the international hub for the forestry and wood industries. “Despite the global economic crisis, LIGNA will again bring together all the significant players from this sector. Once again this underlines the outstanding status enjoyed by the event and is a clear sign that exhibitors expect LIGNA to stimulate business and generate orders. Given the current difficult situation, the theme highlighted this year - efficient use of resources - is more relevant than ever as only efficiently run enterprises will survive. In this context, the innovative technical solutions for forestry and woodworking showcased at this year’s LIGNA can play a crucial role”, says Stephan Kühne, member of the Board at Deutsche Messe, Hannover.   For more than 1,700 exhibitors from 48 countries LIGNA HANNOVER 2009 offers an ideal platform for machinery, tools, processes and solutions for the forestry and timber industries. Kühne is confident: “Our tradeshow can once again fulfill its credentials as the leading international forum for the sector, and is in equal measure a ‘must’ event for exhibitors and visitors”.

Undeterred by the recent drastic deterioration in the business climate, exhibitors have seized the opportunity to showcase their products. Visitors can expect an exciting display occupying over 130,000 square meters, including special themed presentations (e.g. intelligent technology and services to improve efficiency across the entire range of the value adding chain - from tree nurseries through to furniture manufacture). All of the international market leaders and major enterprises in the industry will be represented.

Manufacturers and suppliers of machinery will be exhibiting their latest developments and innovations in the following areas: sawmill technology, production of wood materials and veneers, furniture manufacture, processing of solid wood, forestry and forestry equipment, as well as equipment and techniques for the skilled trades. For the third time in succession this year will see the “fair within a fair” in the form of ‘Handwerk, Holz & mehr’.

This event has established itself as a leading trade fair in its own right, targeting not just carpenters, joiners, cabinet-makers and other skilled woodworking trades, but also architects and planners. Professionals appreciate its valuable coverage of state-of-the-art machinery, equipment, tools and accessories through to new, innovative IT solutions and a broad variety of innovative applications for solid wood and wood materials. Importantly, this special event also features user-oriented practical demonstrations of new products and techniques.

LIGNA HANNOVER 2009 is rounded off by an impressive lineup of specialized user-oriented presentations, seminars and conferences, specialist congresses and international contact exchanges. This program further enhances the show’s key function as a platform for knowledge transfer and networking.   LIGNA is unlike any other event in this sector, not least because it boasts such a high level of international participation, with more than half of the exhibitors coming from outside the host nation. The top 10 exhibiting countries at LIGNA HANNOVER 2009 (based on display area) are Germany, followed by Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Finland and Sweden.
