Logset gear up in the UK

Logset Oy have recently announced that they have entered into a new distribution agreement with their current Southern UK dealer, RJ Fukes Forestry Services.The new agreement involves RJ Fukes taking over the sales and service from Logset Ltd in Northern England, Scotland and Ireland.RJ Fukes and Logset Oy first started collaborating in 1998. Historically, RJ Fukes’ sales territory has been Wales and Southern England whereas Logset Ltd has been taking care of Northern England, Scotland and Ireland. RJ Fukes has always been an independent Company and will continue to deal directly with Logset Oy in Finland.

As a part of the new agreement, Logset Ltd’s existing operations will be transferred to RJ Fukes as follows:

• Existing personnel (except Shaun Harper) will be employed by RJ Fukes
• Shaun Harper will continue with his current responsibilities in the North on behalf of RJ Fukes

• Thus RJ Fukes will have two offices in the UK: Their long standing existing premises at Llandovery and now the Northern premises at Longtown, Carlisle.Logset Oy and RJ Fukes have been discussing the Northern UK and Ireland many times over the years. RJ Fukes feels that now is the best time to expand their operations in preparation for the anticipated new growth following the current recession. Despite the economic downturn, this year has been very successful for both RJ Fukes and Logset Ltd in terms of product sales. However, Logset Oy and RJ Fukes can see many advantages if one company was to take care of the whole of the UK and Ireland. Spare part sales, new and used machines sales and service operations can all be organized and managed more efficiently within one single sales territory covering the whole of the UK and Ireland.

Logset Oy’s main distribution strategy was always to work with strong, local and independent dealers and the exception was that of the UK and Logset Ltd. This new agreement with RJ Fukes means that Logset Oy can now concentrate on developing and manufacturing forest machines instead of maintaining a sales and support network via a subsidiary. Resources at the factory will now be utilized more efficiently resulting in further innovative products and stabilized high quality.

From the customer’s point of view, very little changes: existing personnel will continue to serve Logset customers in North; the workshop and spare parts stock remain in Carlisle; early in the new year, the workshop facilities and parts stock will be further enhanced; RJ Fukes’ Northern operations will now include two full-time service vans. In addition, RJ Fukes will now take care of all Logset Ltd’s existing warranties and service contracts.
