Three new Sustainable Forestry Funds launched

Posted on March 12th, 2010

MSS Fund Management, the London based alternative asset manager, and Oxigen, a leading UK authority on sustainable forestry investments, have just announced the launch of three Sustainable Forestry Funds. The funds will invest in tropical rain forests and plantations in Brazil, Malaysia, Costa Rica, and other selected regions of the world.
MSS is an independent alternative asset manager and currently advises in excess of $60 billion. Founded in 2004, Oxigen Investments specialise in sustainable and ethical forestry investment and management of global forestry assets.

The fund managers say that the Sustainable Forestry Funds are designed to allow investors direct access to the returns generated by commercially managed tropical plantations, as well as the opportunity to invest in a sustainability focused strategy. The three underlying funds are targeted at the Wealth Management and HNW sector, with one fund designed for Institutional Investors seeking long-term exposure to the asset class.

The Guernsey-based regulated closed-ended funds will invest in plantations that generate returns from commercially managed mahogany, agarwood (aquilaria), and teak, as well as agroforestry returns from maize, sugar cane and lemon grass. More information about SFF can be found here
