Peterson launch new 4310 Track Mounted Drum Chipper
For biomass fuel processing applications
The 4310 drum chipper is the latest in a long line of chipping and grinding machines produced by Peterson. It is suited for high volume biomass producers who have a wide variety of feed material, from logs up to 24 inches (61 cm) in diameter to brush and small feed stock.
The Track Mounted 4310 is Designed for Mobility in High Volume Biomass Production
Powered by a C18 Caterpillar engine, the 4310 is available in 2 power ratings- 630 and 765 horsepower (470 and 570 kW). At 52,000 pounds (23,600 kg), the track mounted 4310 is designed for operations requiring high production and frequent moves between jobs.
The chipper utilizes a 36 inch diameter by 44.75 inch (91 by 114cm) wide drum. Other key features include a sloped feed deck for ease of feeding the chipper and wear resistant AR 400 wear surfaces on the drum pockets and shell. Optional material sizing grates further reduce oversize twigs and branches in the chips, and an optional chip accelerator helps with loading.
Traditional babbitt type knife systems are standard equipment. Chip length can be changed from 0.25 to 1 inch (6 to 32 mm) by adjusting knife extension and feed speed. The end load spout is standard, and an optional top loading spout is available.
The 4310’s new generation of controls includes Peterson’s high-production Adaptive Control System. The new control panel provides self-diagnosis for faulty sensors and open circuits. Fault indicators make troubleshooting easy. The 4310 control panel features an LCD display that provides the operator the complete engine and system parameters to simplify setup and efficiently operate the machine.
Peterson specializes in developing delivery and processing equipment that turns low-grade organic materials into high value products.
5900EL Whole Tree Disc Chipper

Peterson’s popular 5900 disc chipper has been enhanced with key features that high-volume chipping operations demand. The new 5900EL (Extended Length) features an 11 foot (3.3 meter) feed deck, PT Tech hydraulic clutch, direct drive internal feed rolls, and a totally enclosed Tier 4 ready Caterpillar C18 engine.
The 5900EL disc chipper can produce high quality chips from ¼ to 1¼ inches (6 to 28 mm) for use in the pulp, particle board, wood pellet and biomass markets. When low bark or ash is a requirement, the 5900 EL can be paired with the Peterson 4800 debarker. The extended deck of the 5900EL provides increased flexibility to feed short stems and brushy material, and it has a large feed throat capable of accepting up to a 23 inch (56 cm) diameter trees or multiple smaller diameter stems.
The 5900EL is provided with a heavy-duty 66 inch (168 cm) diameter, 4¾ inch (121 mm) thick three knife chipper disc with replaceable wear liners, and is also available with an optional four knife disc. It has the same high quality chipping components that have been used for many years in Peterson’s 5000H delimber/debarker/chippers. Chipping production rates from 50 to 100 tons (45 to 90 tonnes) can be achieved depending on the desired chip size.
