Pulp price rises announced for Asia

Posted on April 27th, 2011

Softwood bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) producer Winstone Pulp International Ltd. in New Zealand has told customers in Asia that it plans to increase its price by US$30 per tonne for all of its brightness grades. Winstone, which produces more than 160,000 tonnes/year of radiata pine BCTMP at its Karioi mill, made the announcement on 11 April.
Winstone informed customers of its plans after several Canadian softwood/hardwood BCTMP suppliers announced $30/tonne increases for China and/or Asia. Those known to have announced include West Fraser Timber Co., Millar Western Forest Products Industries Ltd., and Tembec Inc. Source: www.forestweb.com
