Australian mapping resource proving popular
![]() |
There has been an overwhelming response to the reproduction and updating of this industry resource since it was launched in April. A long overdue update for the very popular Forest Products Industry Map has recently been produced by the Forest Industry Engineering Association. This is the 5th edition of the Australian map.
Since it was last produced two years ago, changes in the Australian wood products industry have been significant. Mill closures, changes of ownership, differing levels of sawn timber production and new additions to wood manufacturing operations have changed the landscape for Australian forest products industry.
The new 2011 map features over 75 changes to the earlier 2009 version and now features the location of 136 major sawmills, all fibreboard, particleboard, plywood, pulp & paper, veneer and paperboard mills, I-beam plants and wood manufacturing operations as well as forest vegetation mapping. The large full colour map is now the most up-to-date industry reference for the Australian forest products industry.
Complimentary copies of the full colour 980cm x 680cm maps were inserted into the May issue of Australian Forest & Timber News and additional copies have been distributed by its map partners. To get your own or order additional copies of this new resource for your own staff or customers, please e mail andrea.scott@fiea.org.nz.
